Welcome to Red Door.
We are a team of researchers from different institutions that work together to improve health in New Zealand. We are specialists in the disciplines of epidemiology, analytical chemistry, molecular biology, indigenous knowledge, hydroinformatics, urban infrastructure and political theory.
Most recently, our focus has been on the use wastewater-based analysis (WBA) to reduce the harms of drug use and understand the spread of pathogens such as Covid-19.
Our mission is simple: to improve public health.
Applied research to tackle threats to health, such as pathogens, AMR, sub-standard medicines, dangerous drugs, and health system weaknesses
Improved research practice to produce better data and data sharing with a particular focus on communication for health outcomes and harm reduction
Training to address future needs and build capacity for public health
Critical examination of new and emerging technologies and innovations to improve health with a focus on the ethics of surveillance
Policy to inform the ongoing conversation about appropriate impact
